What is a trademark?

A trademark is any sign that lets you distinguish one entrepreneur's goods or services from others:
- Company or product name
- Logo
- Slogan
- Shape, color, sound
Where to register?
1. Polish Patent Office (UPRP — Urząd Patentowy RP) — protection in Poland
- Fee: 450 zł (basic filing fee)
- Protection: 10 years (renewable)
- Procedure: 6–12 months
2. EUIPO — protection across the EU
- Fee: 850 EUR (basic fee)
- Protection: 10 years across the entire EU
- Procedure: 6–12 months
3. WIPO — international protection
- Fee: depends on the countries
- Protection: 10 years in selected countries
Accounting costs
On the tax scale and flat tax:
- Registration fee: one-off cost
- Renewal fees (every 10 years): one-off cost
- Lawyer's fees: one-off cost
If the value of the trademark exceeds 10,000 zł, you can amortize it as an intangible asset (KŚT 7 — Classification of Fixed Assets, group 7).
On the lump-sum tax (ryczałt):
You do not deduct costs (including trademark registration).

Yes, if you are building a brand. Without registration, someone may steal it from you.
How much does registration cost?
Poland: from 450 zł. EU: from 850 EUR.
Can I deduct registration costs on the lump-sum tax (ryczałt)?
No. On the lump-sum tax, costs are not deductible.
